Petri Karjalainen (44) has been appointed Strategy Director of Finland’s leading magazine publisher, Sanoma Magazines Finland, and a member of the company’s Management Team, as of March 1. He will also be responsible for the Custom Publishing and Digital Media Units.
Petri Karjalainen will join Sanoma Magazines Finland from Sanoma Online Ad Sales, where he has been Vice President of Sales. Prior to working for Sanoma, he served as a business unit and technology director at Talentum and in a number of managerial positions at IBM. Petri Karjalainen has an Executive MBA and a degree in information technology.
“Petri Karjalainen has very broad-ranging and extensive experience in magazine and online business management, as well as in the sales and marketing of digital services; and he will play a very important role in growing our digital services and solutions,” says Sanoma Magazines Finland’s CEO, Clarisse Berggårdh.

They offer readers exciting reading and unique experiences, and a quality environment for advertisers, with tightly defined target audiences,” says Petri Karjalainen. “The role of the Web is to extend the services that a print magazine can offer and bring added depth and variety to reader relationships.
