Maija Toppila appointed Editor-in-Chief of Glorian Antiikki
Maija Toppila is appointed Editor-in-Chief of Finland’s only specialist antiques title Glorian Antiikki as of 1 February 2012.

Maija Toppila (55) will join Glorian Antiikki from ET-lehti, where she has also been Editor-in-Chief. She previously served as Editor-in-Chief at Hyvä Terveys after working in Kodin Kuvalehti and Tiede 2000. Maija Toppila began her career in the magazine world as a journalist with Avotakka, going on to become the magazine’s editorial manager. She graduated from the University of Helsinki with an M.A. degree.

“Antiques, design, interior design, and home furnishing are more popular today than they have ever been, and even young people have discovered how exciting the retro world can be,” says Maija Toppila. “The process by which objects and environments are passed on from generation to generation is also something that engages an increasing number of people because of its underlying sustainability. Glorian Antiikki is ideally placed to respond to this rising trend of interest.”

“We are strongly developing on our lifestyle titles, and Maija Toppila’s appointment is very much part of this,” says Riitta Pollari, Sanoma Magazines’ Publisher, Magazines. “Producing a highly focused lifestyle magazine requires a lot of journalistic expertise and a clear vision; and we want to make Glorian Antiikki an even richer experience for its existing readers in the future, as well as attract new readers interested in art, design, collecting, and restoration.”

Glorian Antiikki, which appears 10 times a year, is Finland’s only specialist antiques title and has a circulation of 29,069 copies and 124,000 readers.

“Glorian Antiikki has a unique reputation among antique lovers as a source of information and inspiration,” continues Maija Toppila. “I believe that we can make the magazine and the subjects it covers even more exciting by further strengthening both the visual side of the title and the writing. There is little that can beat a truly professionally and passionately produced lifestyle magazine.”

Glorian Antiikki’s current Editor-in-Chief, Pia-Maria Montonen, will continue on the staff as a journalist. A new Editor-in-Chief will be recruited to ET-lehti.
